Digging Through Time With Mega Man

Description

Mega May continues with the next two Mega Man Game Boy games to be brought on the eShop... and boy, speaking of Game Boy games, it's been a long time since we've last seen any Game Boy Virtual Console releases. And to think those two Mega Man games were released back in 1992, by a difference of a couple of months. Anyway, here they are now.

Mega Man II (Game Boy, 1992): Back in 1992, i've gotten that one during a summer break from high school... though the moment i've bought the game and played it outside, i've easily beaten that one in less than two hours, making it the fastest gameplay that i've ever gone through a video game, especially on a handheld. However, looking into that one, the graphics, while looking exactly like its Game Boy predecessor and its NES counterparts, were made by a company known as Biox. And history be told about that one, the developmental company had little to no knowledge about the Mega Man series, making that one the black sheep of the Mega Man Game Boy sub-series, especially since there was none of the familiar NES music remade for the Game Boy chapter of the sub-series. Also, the ninth robot named Quint, while resembling a lot like a green version of our blue bombing hero, had a weapon or device named the Sakugarne that, when in use, kinda sucked... though sadly worked efficiently against Dr. Wily. But the best way to make use of it would be when he's in his 3rd form, seeing that the weapon energy gets sapped away after a short while.

Mega Man III (Game Boy, 1992): That one came around a few months after the release of the second chapter of the sub-series, though Biox would no longer handle the development of the rest of the Game Boy Mega Man sub-series. Thank god, now that i think about it. Regardless, that one returned to its harder set of difficulty, as well as bringing the true music from its NES counterparts. And also, the ninth robot of that one, Punk, is considered to be a pain in the crotch, due to his ability to turn into a buzzsaw or something of the sort, which damages Mega Man a lot if he's not careful. And only the Mega Buster (mostly charged up, as recommended) can damage that guy and make you earn his Screw Crusher, which is very useful against Dr. Wily's final form. And unlike the Sakugarne, the weapon energy of that one don't get drained that easily, meaning you can use it so many times before seeing it completely drained. It's still not quite a great game, but it's still a good one nonetheless.

Anyway, next week's title for Mega Man's Mega May celebration is Mega Man IV, one of two best Mega Man Game Boy games. Be on the lookout for it.

Ah this side of the Mega Man series is pretty underrated.  Awesome downloads Eric.
